The singer, 29, who also has dyslexia, opened up about his diagnosis as he shared upcoming plans for his new album.
After finding out that he has ADHD, Tom has turned his attention on writing his new album in the United States.
According to The Sun, he said: 'I’ve got ADHD and I struggled with concentrating at school.
'I’ve just been told I’ve got ADHD. It wasn’t picked up at school. Maybe that’s why I sat there unable to focus.'

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a behavioural condition defined by inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.
Speaking on Russell Howard's Wonderbox podcast, which releases Wednesday, Tom said he has been working with famed producerJustin Tranter, who has worked with Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber.
About his new album, Tom shared: 'I’ve been in the US writing my new album and it’s been amazing. We’ve gone deep. It’s about my struggle with different aspects of my life, whether it’s alcohol or drugs. I’ve opened up about my life, from being a kid to now, family and relationships.'
In June, Tom admitted he found himself in a 'sinking hole' as he opened up about his mental health.
The hitmaker, who has always been candid about his struggles, told how he began to write music as a way of expressing his feelings.
Speaking to broadcaster Roman Kemp for mental health charity YoungMinds, Tom said: 'Something dramatically happened to me where I just found myself in this sinking hole.
'I couldn't get out of bed, I thought the whole world was against me. I thought I wasn't good enough, I never had been somebody who would talk about my feelings, especially to my friends and not to my parents, either.
'So then I started to just write little notes in a notepad and then picked up a guitar.

The couple invited just their close family and friends to the wedding, making it an intimate affair
'And I was like, singing these lyrics that I was writing that was really telling myself what's going on.'
Bedford-born Tom said writing his feelings down helped him to form a deeper connection to his mother.
He explained: 'I think that's where I then, we're talking about connection, a real connection happened between me and my Mum. I could really open up to my Mum and start talk about what was going on.
'And then like, I went to therapy and I found somebody who really understood what I was going through and how it helped me direct these thoughts and put them into context.'
In a previous interview with Daily Mail Australia, Tomtouched on his mental health struggles and acknowledged the importance of authenticity with his fans.
He said: 'Definitely I'm not shy of it, I struggle, I also have a good time but, people are investing in them, so I think they deserve to know the truth.'
Tom recently married his girlfriend DaniellaCarraturo on a luxurious estate in Majorca.
It was first reported Tom and Danniella were engaged in September 2022, with the singer said to have popped the question seven months prior.
WHAT IS ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a behavioural condition defined by inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.
It affects around five per cent of children in the US. Some 3.6 per cent of boys and 0.85 per cent of girls suffer in the UK.
Symptoms typically appear at an early age and become more noticeable as a child grows. These can also include:
- Constant fidgeting
- Poor concentration
- Excessive movement or talking
- Acting without thinking
- Inability to deal with stress
- Little or no sense of danger
- Careless mistakes
- Mood swings
- Forgetfulness
- Difficulty organising tasks
- Continually starting new tasks before finishing old ones
- Inability to listen or carry out instructions
Most cases are diagnosed between six and 12 years old. Adults can also suffer, but there is less research into this.
ADHD's exact cause is unclear but is thought to involve genetic mutations that affect a person's brain function and structure.
Premature babies and those with epilepsy or brain damage are more at risk.
ADHD is also linked to anxiety, depression, insomnia, Tourette's and epilepsy.
There is no cure.
A combination of medication and therapy is usually recommended to relieve symptoms and make day-to-day life easier.
